Where Creativity Meets C9 Challenge #5

Hw!  I'm sorry I'm popping in a bit late today.  I forgot to schedule my post to publish, and I didn't notice until just now because I've literally been cooking ALL day.  I've got a crowd to feed tomorrow.  BUT I'm so glad you are here today!  Welcome to a new challenge at Where Creativity Meets C9!  The theme for Challenge #5 is "Try Something New".

This little duo has a story.  I talked to my mom the day I received my package from Greg and Angie, the amazing team behind Concord & 9th.  (They were SUPER generous to send each of the Where Creativity Meets C9 design team members a bundle from their brand new release...as in released today!).  I was lucky enough to receive the Love Notes Bundle.  My package came just a couple days before my card deadline, so I needed an idea quick, and my mom immediately told me a color combo.  I'm not sure I've ever done this combo, but it is all colors my mom likes.  I do so much better when I create a card for a specific person, so when I sat down to craft, I decided I should use her suggestion and make the card for her.  The pineapple comes in because she and my dad are headed to Hawaii tomorrow. :) 

Concord and 9th is so good at thinking of the details.  The Love Notes Envelope Dies were designed so that you can create two envelopes from one 8.5x11 sheet of paper.  In addition, you can cut four "love notes" from a single piece of 8.5x11 sheet of paper, and they fit perfectly inside the Love Notes Envelope.  To make my card, I selectively inked the long "xoxoxo" stamp in Love Notes, so it would fit perfectly on my card.  Then I stamped and die cut the darling pineapple from the Pop Art Pineapple. I love it looks in shades of pink, and cannot wait to try out more pineapple colors. I popped the pineapple up and added a gold heart, cut with the little heart included in the Love Notes Envelope dies. Super simple.

Next up, the envelope.  Definitely don't be intimidated by the Love Notes Envelope Dies.  There are lots of things in place to help you be successful.  All you have to do is cut an 4x11 sheet of paper.  The tabs on the sides of the die line up with the edges of the paper to make sure you are cutting straight.  There are even little notches on the die to help you line up your cut.  I wanted to make a cash envelope closure, and it was super easy to do.  You can use the little circle or heart dies in the Love Notes Envelope Dies, but I simplified the process even more by using the a little heart die from the Bags & Tags Dies that already has a hole cut out of the center of the heart. The eyelets fit perfectly in the hole.

I did stamp on the front of this envelope.  I used the Sophisticated Script Bundle to stamp my mom's name, and then I stamped the diagonal stripes from Love Notes across the bottom.  Unfortunately there are no pictures of it because shortly after I took these photos, my super cute, super curious 2-year-old got a hold of the envelope and destroyed it.  Thankfully these little Love Notes Envelopes are easy to create and I can make another one with the other half of the sheet of paper I used.

12 Kits of Occasions - December '16

Hello!  I'm sorry I'm a bit late getting this posted.  We've been battling sicknesses all month, and my littlest one in particular hasn't been feeling well the last few days.  We've had a few particularly rough nights and mommy duty has certainly trumped card making.  That being said, I am happy to share with you the cards I was able to finish (several more in the works) with Jessica's fantastic kit.  It had cute, sparkly, elegant, and everything in between.  I was so excited when I opened this kit.  I started with these darling bears from MFT's Polar Bear Pals.

All the supplies for this card came with the kit.  (You can find the supply list on the 12 Kits Blog here.) I colored them to match our family, including favorite colors except for my husband, who shares the same favorite color as my son.  I'm pretty excited to give this as a Christmas thank you. 

I was enjoying using my SU! watercolor crayons, so for my next card I used them again to color a sentiment in the kit from Paper Smooches' Chit Chat stamp set. 

Okay, so after making this card I totally switched gears. The black, white, and gold papers and the die cuts in this kit were so great, that I knew they'd make for some quick and easy thank you cards.  These next few cards came together in a snap. The first one uses a sentiment Jessica had gold embossed from MFT's Kind Thanks. 

Okay, bear with me on this next one.  It is as simple as it comes, but so much prettier in real life.  The gold foil paper is beautiful, but boy is it hard to photograph! 

Don't you just love this script thank you that Jessica cut on her silhouette? 

Next up is probably my favorite card that I made, using one of my very favorite papers in the kit.  I think I'd like it as a pillow. :) Anyway, I didn't want to cover much of it up, so I simply placed a vellum rectangle behind "thanks", which I die cut with Concord & 9th's Thanks Card Die. 

I used another one of my favorite papers on my last card.  I just love the gold foil dots mixed into the pattern.  

I used vellum again to back my sentiment and layered a few leaves cut with PTI's Turning a New Leaf dies.  Turning a New Leaf is one of my very oldest stamp/die purchases, but it is something I still turn to again and again.

Merry Christmas (plus a bunch of Christmas cards and tags)

Merry Christmas!  I hope as you celebrate the birth of the Savior today that you find much happiness and peace.  I love that Christmas is on Sunday and that we will get to go to church on this special day.    I realized that I never shared a few Christmas projects I made, so I figured I better do it before it is too late. 

My first card uses some Papertrey stamps.  If you look closely, you can see that there are little angels stamped lightly in the background, which I thought was quite perfect paired with this scripture.

Last week I noticed I needed a few more tags, so I pulled out some of old and new Winnie & Walter goodies to quickly whip up a few more tags.  I sure love these new stamps and dies.  I was inspired by several cards in Winnie & Walter's Rerun No. 17 Challenge.  My first tag was inspired by Gayatri (ombre blending on word cutaway) and Shay (loved the mint!).  I stamped the pine bough from Winter Woodland in the background and then blended ink onto the new In a Word: Noel Cutaway. The little tag hole was cut using a teeny die in the Essentials: Noelle Cutaways.

I loved how the tag turned out, so I decided to make a set of them. :) 

My next two tags were inspired by Lydia's card.  I used In Bloom: Frenchy's Festive Florals and a sentiment from Sentimental: Winter. 

And here is the second one all tied up and ready to go.

My last tag was inspired by Heather Hoffman's card.  The tags base is from Winnie & Walter's Essentials: Noelle Cutaways, a set of dies I have wanted for quite some time now.  I used just one little leaf in Winnie & Walter's In Bloom: Frenchy's Festive Florals and first stamped it in white to form a wreath.  Then I stamped it again in green and purposely stamped offset from the white, so the wreath would look more full.  Then I went back over a few of the leaves with the leaf vein stamp.  I added a little bling and finished it off with a sentiment from Sentimental: Winter.  I LOVE the font in this set! 

And I'm also entering this one into the Simon Says: Make it Sparkle challenge because I just the subtle sparkle in the gold twine and sequins. 

My final card is a super simple one using some of my favorite Concord & 9th stamps.  If you haven't already noticed, I'm on an ink blending kick lately.  After I blended the ink I stamped a sentiment from O Christmas Tree and heat embossed some clear snowflakes from Concord & 9th's Joy stamp set that are trickling down the card. If you look really close you can see the glossy snowflakes.

Concord & 9th Sneak Peek

Hello!  I'm a bit behind getting my Christmas cards out...surprise, surprise.  So I've got a few last minute, quick and easy Christmas cards to share on the Where Creativity Meets C9 Blog today.  Even if you are already finished with your holiday card making (yay!), maybe there is just one more person that your heart is hinting to you who could use a card this year.  I hope to see you there!

Where Creativity Meets C9 Challenge #4

Hooray!  It's time for another Where Creativity Meets C9 Challenge!  The theme for Challenge #4 is Winter, and I had tons of fun making this card. 

I made it for a sweet friend of mine who I think of and miss every day.  She is simple (in the best way!) and happy and always looking on the bright side of things, so I wanted my card to reflect that.

I absolutely love the snowflake in Concord & 9th's Joy stamp set, so I started my background by stamping that in two different colors.  Next I added the sketchy star from O Christmas Tree, followed by the largest scribbled circle in Love you. Mean it.  I filled in the gaps with the little berries from the Joy stamp set.  I created the sentiment by embossing "happy birthday" from the Happy Day stamp set and creating "winter" with the Sophisticated Script.  Honestly, if you haven't picked up Sophisticated Script yet, you need to.  I use it all the time, and I love that I can create any word that I want and have it look amazing.  It's really easy to line up, too, especially with a Misti, but you can get great results even without one.
