This card took FOREVER to make. I probably would have given up on the PTI's Make it Monday challenge of die cutting a partial image, but I had invested so much time that I was determined to finish it. I didn't choose the best die because I had to mask not only part of the umbrella I was using, but the entire other umbrella on the die. And for some reason I couldn't get the sandwich quite right. (If you're having similar issues, save yourself some time and a whole lot of frustration and use this much simpler {and extremely effective} tutorial). Thankfully the idea for the card came pretty quickly because I used Jen's March SFYTT. Here's the sketch. I tipped it over on it's side for my card.
This picture shows the depth of the card a bit better. The other time consuming thing was drawing and hand cutting the clouds. I was kicking myself for not ordering a cloud die. I will be next time I make an order. I'm glad I made them, though. The clouds and the sun starting to peek out from behind are my favorite parts of the card.
Supplies
Stamps: Scattered Showers (PTI)
Ink: Baja Breeze (SU), Berry Sorbet (PTI), So Saffron (SU)
Paper: Berry Sorbet (PTI), Lemon Tart (PTI), Red Riding Hood (SU), Vintage Cream (PTI), Quite Contrary Jack & Jill Papers (My Mind's Eye) ( I also used cream and dark green card stock from my stash)
Other: Scattered Showers Die, 1 3/8" Circle Punch (SU), Dimensionals (SU & CTMH)
Yay! Glad you got the cutting to work out!! I'm definitely getting the umbrella die & stamp set and the clouds. Everytime I want clouds, I need to hand draw them and they take FOREVER >_>
ReplyDeleteThe clouds turned out perfect. they make the card. I love it. I am wishing for the sun today.
ReplyDeleteOh man, another one of my favorite cards. I LOVE the design and colors you used. The clouds are too cute like everyone has said.
