Felt Stitched Ornaments with Spellbinders

Hello, friends!  We are way behind decorating for Christmas, but I'm hoping today is finally the day that it happens, and I thought I would share some cute ornaments I made using a bunch of dies from Spellbinders' November Felt Stitch & Create Release.

I love these and am so happy I took the time to create them.  I'm extra happy when I get to make something for my kids.  These were definitely a labor of love, but worth it.

Let's talk felt for a second.  Did I use all wool felt?  No, so you don't have to, but the thicker/studier 100% wool felt really was a lot easier to work with, quicker to stitch, and way less prone to ripping (in fact, it didn't tear at all).  I used the Merino Wool Felt Sheets - Neutrals Collection (they cut and stitched beautifully), a few brighter colors of wool felt from Papertrey Ink, and a white from my stash.

First up is the candy cane that is made out of the Felt Candy Cane DiesNichol Spohr has excellent video tutorials with everything that you need to know to put these together, but the dies cut the stitching holes for you, which makes assembly quite straight forward.

I used Melon Berry Felt and white my candy cane, and added the holly and berries included in the Felt Candy Cane Dies set.  They were cut with Berry Sorbet and Simply Chartreuse felt.

Waffle Flower's Embroidery Floss 48 pack had all the floss I needed.  Instead of using the full 6 strands in the embroidery floss, though, I pulled out just three strands at a time to do my stitching.

I used the same colors to create this darling fox with the Felt Forest Fox Dies and added some neutrals from the Merino Wool Felt Sheets - Neutrals Collection

I added the holly and berries from the Felt Candy Cane Dies and a little Santa hat from the  Felt Gingerbread Boy & Girl Dies to make her a little more festive.

The next set I made almost entirely from the Merino Wool Felt Sheets - Neutrals Collection.

Isn't the Felt Reindeer adorable?!  I've seen lots of darling Rudolph versions with red noses, but I figured my son would like it a little more neutral.

The hat and pom pom are included in the Felt Reindeer Dies, and I totally forgot to take a picture (boo!), but I cut the pom pom a second time and made it into a little tail on the reindeer's tush.  You'll just have to trust me, but it's pretty cute!

The final felt ornament is made with the Felt Gingerbread Boy & Girl Dies.  This set comes with tons of dies and extra accessories, so you have lots of mixing and matching possibilities.

Since I was creating a little boy gingerbread, I kept mine fairly simple with just a button and bow tie.  Oh, and the cute tree.  Of all the projects, this one comes together the fastest.  I was glad I saved it til last. ;)  Oh, I should mention, some of the little dies don't have stitching holes (like the cheeks and frosting lines), so I used a little hot glue to adhere them to the felt.  Worked like a charm!

How about one last shot of them all together?  They make me smile big!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!  You can find all these dies and more in the Felt Stitch & Create Release, or you can click on the individual products in the supply list below.  Happy crafting, friends!

Crafty Meraki: Poinsettia Floral Spray with DIY Stencil

Good morning!  I'm excited to be guest designing for Crafty Meraki this month and can't wait to share my card with you today.  I'm over on the Meraki Blog with a very detailed post on how to put this card together, but I wanted to share it here as well.  Believe it or not, you are getting the condensed version. :D

I started my card by creating my own stencil using a sheet of acetate and Meraki's largest Canopy Leaf Die.  I used my DIY stencil to blend two leaf and berry sprigs onto my card using Concord and 9th's Cranberry and Evergreen inks, adding an extra berry stem to the top leaf sprig to fill the space a little more.

Then I generously flicked on snow (aka white paint) using a toothbrush.  (Yep, I keep a clean toothbrush in my crafty supplies.)

The stenciled base layer anchors floral arrangement, so while the paint flecks were drying, I die cut one of the Blooming Noel Effortless Artistry Papers with the coordinating Blooming Noel Dies.  These papers are awesome because they come pre-colored in a variety of styles.  It really speeds up the cardmaking process!

I generously covered the poinsettia with snowy white paint flecks and added a pile (literally) of Pretty Pink Posh's Metallic Gold Pearls on top.  Then I popped the poinsettia up on my card using foam tape.

Next I die-cut two of the smaller Canopy Leaf Dies out of gold cardstock.  I tucked one full stem under the top of the poinsettia, and trimmed the other leaf sprig into smaller pieces, so I could tuck them into two places at the bottom of my poinsettia.

Finally I added a gold embossed sentiment from the Festive Flora Wreath Stamp Set and Dies.  Isn't that font beautiful?!  I love it!

This card is full of snowy goodness, rich colors, and layers and I can't help but smile every time I look at it.  Thanks so much for visiting today!  Don't forget, you can visit the Meraki Blog for even more details on this card.

Waffle Flower Better Together Release Day + Giveaway

Hello!  Waffle Flower's October Better Together Release is officially live and ready for shopping.  Yay!  You can shop all the new goodies HERE.  Plus, I have a GIVEAWAY to share with you, so make sure you read to the bottom of the post.

The Inquisitive Frog is the the happiest frog you will ever meet!  I truly cannot look at this adorable frog without smiling, so creating with him was a joy.  I figured a happy little frog would have a nice place to live and yummy food to eat, so that's what I set out to create.

I used the Pond Stencil (for the water) and the Pond with Lily Pads Die (for the foliage) to create this cute little scene surrounding the Inquisitive Frog (who just so happens to be hanging out with the Small Frog Die that you can receive as a gift with purchase).  I did lots of ink blending and a little paint flicking for good measure. :)

I used the Pond of You Stamp Set for the sentiment as well as to stamp the dragonflies and the fly the frog so happily caught. I wanted the dragonfly bodies to be a contrasting color, so I used a fine tip sharpie to color over the bodies.
Finally I framed out the scene with the Oversized Postage Matching Die that I cut with Concord & 9th's Pink Lemonade Cardstock.  I adhered all that to a card base that I had cut with the Wave Texture Die and called it a day. :)

*****GIVEAWAY*****

Okay, now for all of the giveaway details.  Simply leave a comment below by 11:59 pm EST December 7, 2024 and you will have a chance to win a $20 gift certificate to Waffle Flower Crafts.  I am accepting comments on my instagram account, too, so make sure you head over there as well for an additional entry. :) Several other design team members are hosting giveaways, and you can use #WaffleFlowerGiveaway to quickly search for them.
