Pretty Pink Posh's fruit inspired June release is so much fun, and the best part is that it is available in the shop right now! So let's get started. My card goes in a different direction than probably most that you've seen, but I couldn't get this picture out of my mind, so I had to go with it.
There isn't much better better than a bowl of fresh picked berries and cherries (my grandparents had both) in the summer. I'd take fruit over chocolate any day. And every time I looked at Pretty Pink Posh's Fruit Bowl die I could just see it overflowing with berries sitting on the table. Truth be told I wish I was sharing an actual recreation of a spot in my house, but for now this is a dream view. :)
The bowl itself was inspired by some stoneware at Pottery Barn. I cut the Fruit Bowl twice, then trimmed down the cement grey portion, so it would only cover the bottom third of the bowl. This die also has a solid back layer, so it creates a pocket when you glue everything together that you can tuck your goodies inside.
Next I got to work cutting out all of my fruit. The berries come from the Fruit Mug Additions dies and the cherries are from the Valentine Mug Additions. I kept leaves and stems on and even added some (to the raspberries for example) because it makes it look more like it was fresh picked from the garden.
I thought the bowl would be much prettier sitting on a layered table cloth, so I created one with the Slimline: Floral Cover die and the scallop from the Stacked Edges 3 dies. I wish I had this in real life!
Since I was filling my card with things I love, I figured I might as well throw in some planked walls and some open shelving for good measure. I trimmed white strips of cardstock and layered them over pebble cardstock, letting a sliver of the grey show through between each strip to create my wall. Then I cut a brown strip for my shelf and an itty bitty rectangle for the black hardware.
I decided to add my sentiment in the form of a book or card (I couldn't decide which) on the shelf. I combined sentiments from the Fresh Berries stamp set and Fruit Salad stamp set to get it to say just what I wanted, which happens to be something I say often.
