Hello! Anybody out there? :) I've been gone so long I'm not so sure. A huge thanks to Michele for sending a fabulous "Spoonful of Sugar" themed kit that helped me get back to creating! It was actually pretty hard to get started making my first card after taking an almost three month break. It was also tricky because I don't have my crafting supplies.
Here's a snapshot of the supplies Michele used to create our kits. |
So I relied completely on Michele's kit. Okay, I did scrounge through my 5-year-old niece's art supplies for a couple things. :) But don't worry. I put her Crayola colored pencils to good use and made a get well card just for her. (She's having her tonsils and adenoids removed this week.) And I'll let you in on a secret. My cards are only card fronts. Yep, cardstock didn't make it into the essential category when I was packing our suitcases for our move. Are you wondering yet if I'm going to show you my cards? Can you tell I'm a little nervous? I start to ramble when I'm nervous. :) Okay, on to the cards. I'll start with my niece's card since I've already talked about it.
The next card was one of my husband's favorite of the bunch. (I always ask him which one he likes best.) Looks like I know who I'll be giving it to. :)
Michele put some super cute teacups in our kit. When I saw them I immediately thought of a picture I'd seen on Pinterest with a little arrangement of flowers inside a teacup. Since I didn't have my stamps to use, I improvised and selectively cut some flowers off a bouquet die cut that was in our kit.
Next up, my second teacup card. Isn't that grey woodgrain amazing? I was wishing I had a whole stack of it.
This next one is super simple, but that's okay, right? I had something different in mind, but my little one ate my "friends" die cut. Yes, you read that correctly. Okay, she didn't swallow the paper (well, not much of it anyway), but she's teething and it was a slobbery mess by the time I got it out of her mouth. Needless to say, a revision of ideas was necessary.
And now for my favorite of the bunch. I cut the roses out from my favorite piece of patterned paper in the kit, added a few splatters, and finished it off with a few words I trimmed out from one of the sentiments.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope this summer has been good to you. :) Please make sure to stop by the 12 Kits of Occasions Blog to check out what the other fabulous ladies did with their "Spoonful of Sugar" kit. You're in for a treat! :)
