Baby Booties

It's ridiculously late, but I couldn't contain my excitement.  I just finished my first pair of baby booties using Papertrey's Baby Booties Dies and had to share.  Aren't they so fun?  I wish I was keeping them for myself, but they are for my neighbor.  I am attending her baby shower in the morning, so naturally I decided when I was ready for bed tonight that instead of sleeping I'd stay up and put these dies to use. Ha! :) It was worth it, though.  Hopefully I can catch up on sleep tomorrow.  Have a wonderful week!
Supplies
Dies: Baby Booties, Baby Bootie: Details, Bigger Blooms, Flipping Out (PTI), Tattered Floral (Tim Holtz)
Other: vintage cream felt (PTI), pink and grey felt (Michael's), embroidery floss (Hobby Lobby),

Sending a Big Smile

I love making cards with a specific person in mind.  I try to do that all the time now.  (Although sometimes I do just make extra thank you cards because I need them all the time.  They're my favorite kind of cards to send.)  Today's card is for my grandpa.  He loves cars and has worked in the car industry more than 60 years.  I used this week's Make It Monday #186 no outline watercoloring technique and CAS(E) this Sketch #86, flipping it 180 degrees.  I'm not sure I chose a light enough shade of ink to stamp the image in for the technique, but I still like how it turned out.  It did look a little better before I tried to "fix" something on the right side of the car, but after a while of trying to fix my "fix", I had to make myself stop.  Watercoloring is not about perfection, but sometimes that's hard for me to do.  I'm sure my mom is chuckling at that last statement.  She did try to teach me to watercolor a few times when I was little...my personality prevented me from learning much.  I guess that's why we get a life time to learn and gain new skills, and I'm grateful for that! :)
Supplies
Stamps: Enjoy the Ride, Wet Paint III (PTI)
Ink: Real Red (SU!); Fog, Slate (SSS)
Paper: watercolor paper (Michael's)
Other: aqua painter, watercolor crayons (SU!)

PTI July Blog Hop

Hello!  I'm sneaking a card in for Papertrey's July Blog Hop.  Isn't the inspiration photo wonderful?
I had a handful ideas, but we've been doing cousin camp this week.  It's been busy and a ton of fun.  We were in charge of the water day with the theme Despicable Me 2.  It was awesome even with a nearly sleepless night for me due to final preparations.  Today was our last day of camp and after we got home I decided at the last minute I'd try to make a card.  Luckily it came together quickly. :) I'm looking forward to seeing all the other fabulous entries.  Thanks for stopping by.  Have a happy weekend!
Supplies (all PTI unless otherwise noted)
Stamps: Bigger Blooms, Wet Paint III
Ink: Fog (Simon Says Stamp), Aqua Mist, Hibiscus Burst, Pure Poppy
Paper: gingham (The Paper Studio)

More Spots & Dots

I'm back with a short post to share a super quick card I whipped up to go with a gift for a neighbor.  Although I already made a card for the Simon Says...Spots & Dots Challenge (see my first card here), I think this one showcases the spots and dots even more.  If you look close, even the red paper has spots on it.  And as a bonus I made the card entirely of scraps (including the twine).  Isn't it great when that happens?  I also got to use my new-ish Happy stamp set from Simon Says Stamp...love it.  I'm also linking this up to Curtain Call's Anything Goes Challenge.
Once again I meant to do more the colors in the inspiration photo, but instead got stuck on the red-ish, yellow, and black you see on the right side of Curtain Call's logo.  Go figure. :) This card makes me think of the song "Happy" from Despicable Me 2, which makes me like it even more. :) Here's to wishing you a happy week!

Anything Goes with Rainbows, Dots, and a Sketch

Hello!  I know I apologize every time I start a post these days about the length of time between  posts, but unfortunately there isn't a whole lot I can do about it at the moment.  When I named my blog Occasional Crafting I did it for a reason.  I'm grateful for the chances I do get to create, though, and the things that keep me from having time to craft are some of my greatest blessings, so I can't complain. :) I was inspired by a whole slew of challenges when I made this card:
Simon Wednesday Challenge: Spots and Dots (optional: Paper Smooches products)
When I watched Papertrey's Make It Monday  video I took Dawn's comment about being able to use basically any stamp to create a rainbow medallion literally...hence the leaves.  My stamped medallion wasn't quite centered, so I trimmed the whole thing out, but I like the dimension it added.  I did plan to use lighter pinks and turquoises more similar to the Curtain Call inspiration photo, but as I was choosing my rainbow of colors the deeper tones looked better to me.  And I do feel a little bad that the CAS element was lost a bit as I created my card, but hopefully you can still see how CTS #85 inspired my layout.
Thanks so much for stopping by!  We're in for a busy week, but I'm hoping now that we're home I'll be able to squeeze a little crafting time in.  I hope you all are well and having a happy weekend!
